CEO-coaching in collaboration with SmiLe and Almi - a great success

Through a collaboration between SmiLe and Almi, eight SmiLe companies have had the opportunity to participate in a program for CEO’s, headed by Almi Företagspartner. This is the first time Almi has put together a group consisting of only life science companies and the initiative is applauded by the participants.

The CEO groups of Almi Företagspartner are based on participants coaching each other.  The participants help each other out in finding solutions to challenges and learn from each other before making important decisions. The groups consist of five to eight entrepreneurs who are in a similar situation but do not have competing ideas.

On the initiative of SmiLe, the program was now applied – for the first time – to a group consisting of only life science companies. The idea of a tailored group was born out of a need to be able to offer the CEO’s of the incubator companies a possibility to strengthen their leadership and discuss their challenges with others in the same situation.

“As CEO of a small life science start-up you are often facing a number of specific challenges and to be able to exchange experiences with other CEO’s in the same industry is extremely useful. Almis’ CEO groups are very much appreciated so it felt quite natural to initiate a cooperation with them regarding an arrangement for our member companies”, says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe.

Under the guidance of Tina Karlsson at Almi Företagspartner, the CEO’s of the SmiLe companies have had the opportunity to share experience and expertise with others in the same industry in seven workshop-like meetings and the initiative has been praised by the participants. Six out of seven that responded to the evaluation gave the highest rating to the scope and structure of the program, all seven felt that it had in some way affected or changed their leadership and all seven would recommend it to others. In their own assessments, the participants highlighted the creative and relaxed atmosphere, the possibility to grow their network and to get new perspectives that in some way can also be applied to their own organization.

“To manage a company can be lonely. Entrepreneurs often feel that their challenges are unique, but in our CEO-groups they realize that the issues are really very similar, regardless of company. Being able to share experiences and talk openly about their challenges in an informal environment is stimulating and leads to development”, says Tina Karlsson at Almi Företagspartner.

The SmiLe member companies that participated: Acrivon Therapeutics, Gedea Biotech, Amniotics, Leuko3ena, Redoxis, RedGlead Disvovery, Cellevate, Imagene-IT.
