Today, October 2nd at 9 am, SmiLe member company GPX Medical started trading on Nasdaq First North at an event at Medicon Village. This was the first time the Nasdaq bell was present in Lund. In addition to GPX Medical team, the Chairman of the Board Märta Lewander Xu, who is one of the founders, and her previous research colleagues, the Nasdaq team, SmiLe and specially invited guests were present at the event.

The share price climbed to over 9 SEK shortly after opening, significantly higher than the issue price, and the trading could be followed on Nasdaq screens on the stage.

– It feels absolutely fantastic to be here after all the hard work everybody has put in to get to this point. We have more than 2000 shareholders and it will be so great to make this journey together, says Hanna Sjöström, CEO of GPX Medical after ringing the bell.

– Absolutely magical, it is fantastic to be able to experience this together with one of our companies. We would really like Nasdaq to stay in Lund, a big life science hub, as we have many promising companies here. The SmiLe team helps these companies with more than 300 years of combined experience from the life science industry and this is the 16th SmiLe company to complete and IPO. Of the current companies in the incubator 70% have a female CEO or founder and Hanna Sjöström is a good example of how well these companies succeed, says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe Incubator.

GPX Medical: Currently, one in ten babies is born prematurely and a large proportion of them require intensive care. One of the many challenges is that these infants have underdeveloped lungs and are unable to adequately oxygenate the blood, which could result in life-threatening conditions and cause many to suffer from disabilities later in life. The NEOLA system can further improve the high-class neonatal care by offering a safe, non-invasive method for constant monitoring of the infant’s lungs. The system immediately warns of any complications that may arise, thereby enabling rapid detection and treatment of serious conditions.
