Demo Day for SmiLe HealthTech Bootcamp: companies fine-tune their business plans and gain customers

Lund, Sweden – The eighth round of SmiLe’s digital business development program HealthTech Bootcamp has culminated with a Demo Day, where the companies pitched their business ideas before a panel of investors and leading industry experts. This time, six exciting companies from three continents completed the program with their healthcare and health-related business concepts and are now prepared to attract investors.

SmiLe HealthTech Bootcamp is an international ten-week program with a market focus for early companies and projects in medtech and eHealth. The program includes seminars in topics ranging from market validation, business models, regulatory strategy and intellectual property to pitch technique, funding and marketing. The lecturers are experts in their fields and come from SmiLe’s network. New this session is that each participant was assigned an experienced mentor from the industry.

The six companies that were admitted to the program in strong competition have participated online from Europe, Africa and Australia. The companies offer innovative solutions for proactive stress management and diagnostics for cardiovascular diseases, as well as advanced technologies in machine learning for early detection of Alzheimer’s and AI (artificial intelligence) for remote dental examinations.

“This time it is particularly exciting that one of the companies, Normera, has signed a contract with a customer, while another company changed its business model based on professional advice and new insights gained through the program. As always, the participants maintained a high standard and made tremendous progress in the series. We are proud to offer our comprehensive program to both Swedish and international participants, who gain access to Smile’s expertise and community, as well as our large network of contacts. We emphasize that one of the most interesting life science clusters in northern Europe can be found right here in Skåne, in southern Sweden,” says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe Incubator.

What the participants say about the program:

Great lectures, inspiring coaches and valuable to have your own mentor. The program includes every aspect of business development a startup needs to understand in becoming a successful company. The biggest surprise was how willing other entrepreneurs are to connect and share their wisdom.”

“The program has been very helpful in training us how to present our value proposition, and in supporting us in our decision making process regarding different strategies, as well as mapping out the future. The most valuable for me is my personal development and the pitching training together with meeting a bunch of great people in the SmiLe network.”
