Lund University researchers to participate in SmiLe e-Campus

The second session of SmiLe e-Campus, a digital international training program for future life-science entrepreneurs, is now starting. The program is run by SmiLe with participation from industry partners GE Healthcare and Philips. This time Lund University has chosen to offer SmiLe e-Campus to its PhD students and Postdocs in the CanFaster program.

Smile e-Campus is an eight-week online program for applicants from all over the world who are interested in learning basic business practices within the life sciences. The program provides a broad introduction regarding  business models, corporate governance, funding, IP, regulatory issues and marketing. Experts from SmiLe and SmiLe’s partners provide the lectures. Major industry partners GE Healthcare and Philips also participate and will provide participants with valuable insights into the needs and requirements of the life science industry.

Lund University and its CanFaster students will be able to broaden their understanding of entrepreneurship by participating in e-Campus. CanFaster, a multi-year EU-sponsored program at Lund University that combines cancer research and innovation, is held under the auspices of CREATE Health in collaboration with the region and businesses. Spaces in the CanFaster program go to the brightest international PhD students and Postdocs in cancer research.

“This opportunity is particularly valuable for our PhD students now, as they approach the end of their education and will soon enter the job market or start new companies. They will hone their knowledge in innovation and entrepreneurship, while broadening their network of contacts among entrepreneurs and local companies. Our postdocs, who are just starting out, will be off to a flying start to their education. We greatly value our collaboration with SmiLe,” says Sara Ek, professor at the Department of Immunotechnology at Lund University and director of the CanFaster program.

“The fact that Lund University has chosen to offer SmiLe’s e-Campus in its CanFaster program is yet another seal of approval for our course. We have held SmiLe e-Campus once before, and it was overwhelmingly well-received, demonstrating that our structure and quality are highly appreciated and in demand. We are extremely pleased to be able to offer the course to CanFaster program participants,” says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe Incubator.
