SmiLe Incubator´s angel investment company, SmiLe Inject Capital, invests SEK 4 million in Yazen Health, an incubator company that offers digital healthcare services in combination with medication to obese patients. The money will be used to increase the awareness for the company’s services as well as expansion on the Swedish market.

According to the Swedish public health authority, approximately half of the country´s population is overweight and there is a great need for new healthcare solutions. Yazen Health is an incubator company that has developed a new method based on a combination of medicine and lifestyle changes to accomplish long-term sustainable weight loss. With the overall treatment, the patient receives help from a team of dieticians, psychologists, personal trainers, doctors, and, simultaneously, is also treated with a specific medicine that reduces hunger.

"It is difficult to change your lifestyle and lose weight on your own. That´s why we want to offer an overall solution, a method that actually has proven effect. Studies show that it can lead to an annual weight loss of 16%, which in turn leads to lower blood pressure, improved blood fats and a greatly reduced risk of type 2 diabetes," says Magnus Nyhlén, doctor and founder of Yazen Health.

Yazen Health’s services also suit patients that have had bariatric surgery like gastric bypass and have started to gain weight again. The services and the specific medication are paid for entirely by the patients themselves, without public funding or medical subsidies.

"The demand for digital healthcare services is steadily increasing, as is the need for treatment solutions that address obesity. As pioneers for Sweden's first digital care provider Min Doktor, the team behind Yazen Health has solid knowledge of digital care and we see great potential in the business idea. We believe that this will improve the health of many overweight people, while providing societal economic savings, and it will be exciting to follow the companys journey, "says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe Incubator.

The founding team of Yazen Health consists of the founders of Min Doktor; Dr. Magnus Nyhlén doctor and entrepreneur, Otto Bretz, CTO, as well as Fredrik Meurling, CEO and Dr. Martin Carlsson, docent and specialist in endocrinology.
