March 14, Lund, Sweden - SmiLe, a Swedish life science venture hub, is one of the startup hubs included on the "Europe’s Leading Start-up Hubs 2024" awards list by Financial Times and Statista. The awards list is an initiative aimed at highlighting incubation and acceleration programs that significantly contribute to the success of startups across Europe.
Amongst 2000 organizations invited to participate, SmiLe was awarded as one of the 125 hubs with the highest score, affirming its position as a key player in the startup ecosystem. The assessment criteria included alumni feedback and expert recommendations. In addition, the hub’s most successful startups were examined.
"We're honored by this recognition. SmiLe has supported well over 100 companies through our incubator program, and our evolution into a venture hub covering all entrepreneurial stages speaks to our ongoing commitment to help life science startups develop and commercialize their innovations. As the main criteria in the evaluation process was the alumni feedback, this award is truly a testament to the quality of our work,” says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe.
SmiLe’s dedication to nurturing life science innovation and supporting startups and early-stage entrepreneurs has been instrumental in earning this recognition. Since the start, SmiLe has supported 110 entrepreneurs in commercializing their business ideas through its incubator program and together these companies have attracted more than EUR 841million in venture capital since 2014. To date, 21 of SmiLe´s companies have launched an IPO.
