SmiLe Incubator strengthens its expertise in startup financing by recruiting Tomas Eriksson as new business development coach. He has previously been CEO of A1M Pharma, now GuardTherapeutics, and starts working in the SmiLe coaching team in August two days a week.

Tomas Eriksson brings extensive experience in business development in life science and has held leading positions in medtech and diagnostics. He is co-founder and former CEO of A1M Pharma, a former SmiLe company that is now listed under the name Guard Therapeutics. Today he is the CEO of the pharma company Sinntaxis, a position he will retain in addition to his assignment at SmiLe.

Through this new recruitment, SmiLe will be even better equipped to help members develop their companies and set up strategies for attracting capital in preparation for IPO’s and other forms of financing.

“As co-founder and former CEO of A1M Pharma, Tomas is a previous SmiLe customer and I am very pleased to have him back in the team as a coach. This is a great example of how our former members continue to contribute and give back to our community. With his extensive experience of both early startups and listed companies within Life Science, Tomas has experienced many of the challenges our members are facing and can add a lot of valuable knowledge”, says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe Incubator.

”I am delighted to return to SmiLe, this time as coach. I am really looking forward to working with the very exciting companies in the incubator and to contribute with the experience I have gained through the years”, says Tomas Eriksson.

SmiLes’ investment in an increased number of business development coaches is made possible by Vinnova’s positive evaluation of SmiLes’ company portfolio as well as work processes in their thorough review of Swedish incubators earlier this year. This review resulted in SmiLe doubling the financial contribution from Vinnova to nearly 12 MSEK in the next few years.
