SmiLe
has entered into a partnership with Zeiss, a leading company in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of optical instruments. Zeiss has delivered three new microscopes and upgraded several existing ones.

Through this collaboration, laboratory equipment available to companies using SmiLe's facilities in Lund is expanded and modernized. Additionally, companies gain access to advanced application support from Zeiss.

As part of SmiLe's strategy to offer a wide range of services to its member companies, partnerships like this provide startup companies access to cutting-edge technology and expertise available at SmiLe.

Through this collaboration, SmiLe can now offer companies the opportunity to use three Zeiss Primovert microscopes with fluorescence and phase contrast, as well as cameras and software, in SmiLe’s cell culture laboratories. Additionally, several existing microscopes have been upgraded with new Zeiss cameras and associated software.

As a partner to SmiLe, Zeiss will provide support and expert assistance—both generally in advanced microscopy and 4D image analysis and specifically for Zeiss microscopes. Zeiss will also share its global network of companies and researchers. If more advanced applications are needed, Zeiss can also assist with certain feasibility studies and help establish connections with collaboration partners.

"We made a strategic decision to partner with SmiLe Venture Hub because of the many innovative companies here that can benefit greatly from our technology, and vice versa. Building relationships with these startups is important to us as they could become future customers or collaborators in new applications. Being part of SmiLe's community also gives us deeper insights into the needs of our instrument users, says Jens Wigenius, Business Development Manager Pharma and Biotech at ZEISS Research Microscopy Solutions.
